Nuclear: here is the government’s agreement on Belgium’s energy future

The government is also counting on green mobility to accelerate the transition. In particular, it is planned that SNCB will launch a pilot project for hydrogen trains, green its mopeds and light freight transport and double its freight transport by rail by 2030. Finally, to promote the use of public transport, train ticket prices will be frozen in 2023.

Unsurprisingly, and as already announced during the recovery plan, the government also wishes to continue its investments in offshore wind power in the North Sea: Vivaldi intends in particular to quadruple offshore wind power to 8GW. As for onshore wind turbines, they should produce up to an additional 1.5GW thanks to more flexible rules in aviation and defence.

It should also be noted that green State bonds can be purchased by citizens, with a higher yield than that of a savings account.
