Ñublense showed no mercy to Rangers de Talca and beat them 4-0 in Chillán to seal their qualification to the next round of the southern regional phase of the Cup.

Mario Salas’ team dominated the match from start to finish, with the encouragement of their fans and taking advantage of the expulsion of Talca’s Argentine striker, Gustavo Gotti, at 23′.

The numerical superiority made itself felt and although the score was opened early with a goal from Ismael Sosa at 5′, the Rojo had a feast with one more man on the field.

It was Sosa himself who made it 2-0 following connecting with a cross from Oyarzo in the six-yard box.

Bluntness

The 3-0 was the work of Pedro Sánchez who headed in a cross from the left as the first half was ending.

The final 4-0, from the 12 steps, at the dawn of the second half, was scored by Bayron Oyarzo, who was the victim of a penalty when he was preparing to score.

Coach Mario Salas analyzed the resounding victory.

“From the first minute we had an offensive attitude and we created opportunities, which were crystallized with the first goal. Then Gotti’s expulsion was important because we knew how to take advantage of it. After that we finished off a couple of opportunities and we went into the first half with a 3-0. In the second half, the 4-0 already unbalanced the match and defensively we did very well.”

In the next phase of the Copa Chile, Ñublense will face the winner of the tie between Deportes Linares and Universidad de Concepción.

The team from Linares won the first leg 1-0 and the return match will be played next Wednesday at the Ester Roa Rebolledo stadium.
