NTT Ltd.a leading IT infrastructure and services company, and Ciscoa world technology leader, today announced a cooperation to jointly develop and deploy solutions that enable organizations to improve operational efficiency and advance sustainability goals.

By leveraging NTT’s Edge as a Service portfolio and Cisco’s IoT capabilities, the solutions developed by the two companies will deliver real-time data insights, enhanced security, better decision-making and reduced operating costs through predictive maintenance, tracking of supply chain management assets and resources.

The companies will offer solutions that combine NTT’s managed services expertise, edge automation capabilities, and management of complex IT environments with Cisco IoT capabilities, including Low Power Wide Area Networking (LoRaWAN).

As part of today’s news, NTT has strengthened its IoT consulting and services company that brings together more than 1,000 professionals and 100 use cases in areas such as connected cars, fleet management, predictive maintenance, smart cities, digital twins, connected factories , utilities and much more. NTT has trained more than 500 Cisco sales specialists to accelerate the companies’ combined capabilities and go-to-market efforts.

“We are accelerating our IoT business initiatives to provide a powerful portfolio of repeatable services that can be customized to satisfy customer demand for these types of solutions. We are in a unique position,” said Devin Yaung, Vice President of Group Enterprise IoT Products and Services at NTT.

“We are excited to work together to help our customers transition to this IoT-as-a-Service model so they can quickly realize business benefits across industries and globally,” said Samuel Pasquier, Vice President of Product Management and Industrial IoT Networks at Cisco.

Transforming water management through smart solutions

NTT and Cisco have been developing solutions and go-to-market offerings targeting sectors such as manufacturing, transportation and healthcare, where there is a growing demand for edge computing and IoT solutions. The two companies are already rolling out this advanced ‘robust’ service to a number of customers, including the Compagnie Intercommunale Liégeoise des Eaux (CHILE), a public water company located in Belgium.

NTT and Cisco have deployed thousands of LoRaWAN sensors across CILE’s infrastructure to provide remote visibility that improves operational efficiency around water quality, consumption, distribution and maintenance. The solution also includes advanced technologies such as smart distribution networks, remote reading through smart meters, smart grid for remote management, IoT connected objects, as well as AI, delivered as a managed service. The network also provides building blocks to support other sustainability use cases such as waste management, parking management, water quality and street lighting controls.

“At CILE, we provide essential infrastructure for 24 cities in Belgium, which means efficiency, security and reliability are key,” said William de Angelis, CIO and CDP at CILE. “With the support of NTT and Cisco, we have real-time information regarding our facilities and distribution networks, including faster leak detection, which allows us to respond to problems immediately and expand the network to other sustainability use cases. .”

NTT grows IoT consulting and services business

In a move to prioritize and scale IoT for customers and partners, NTT has activated a dedicated IoT business unit, bringing together deep knowledge and resources from around the world. The team of 1,000 consultants, engineers, enterprise architects and sustainability experts will create, deploy and manage more than 100 use cases in areas such as connected cars, fleet management, predictive maintenance, smart cities, digital twins, connected factories and more .

“We are doubling NTT’s IoT capabilities to meet customer demand,” continued Yaung. “What we are doing is bringing together our collective knowledge and skill sets, as well as putting the full power of NTT behind it, in order to better serve our customers and the growing need to equip or adapt their organizations with the connectivity and visibility they need to improve day-to-day business operations.”

It is expected that the global IoT market grow 19% in 2023, with a potential market size of $483 billion by 2027.
