The West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government has prepared a bonus of IDR 350 million for athletes who won gold medals at the 21st PON Aceh-North Sumatra 2024. Acting NTB Governor Hassanudin in Mataram, Monday, said he was proud and grateful because the regional contingent had brought honor to NTB’s name at the PON Aceh-North Sumatra.
“I realize that the target is an encouragement. But the results we have achieved are very appropriate. This is our capital. Let’s prepare a blueprint. Starting from now, we will fix it,” Hassanudin emphasized as reported by Antara, Monday (23/9).
“We have won 16 golds, 17 silvers and 21 bronzes. For those who have not succeeded, do not be discouraged. I am very satisfied and proud. Congratulations to all of us,” he said.
Regarding the bonus, Hassanudin said there is no need to hesitate. The bonus that will be given to gold medal winners is Rp350 million, silver Rp250 million, and bronze Rp150 million. “Coaches too. Your work is an award for all of us,” he said.
The NTB Provincial Government held a welcoming parade for the return of the PON XXI Aceh-North Sumatra contingent centered at the NTB Youth Arena in Mataram. The NTB PON contingent was paraded around the main road in Mataram City.
KONI NTB Chairman, Mori Hanafi, reported that the NTB contingent won 16 gold medals from a target of 20 medals, 17 silver medals and 21 bronze medals. However, the medal achievement of PON this time is claimed to be better than before at PON XX Papua, where NTB only won 15 gold medals.

“This achievement is an increase from before. However, we apologize that we have not managed to achieve the target,” said the elected member of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
KONI NTB saw contingents from large provinces training their athletes abroad. It was the persistence of regions that had large finances. “The host factor also influenced us quite a bit. For example in kick boxing,” he explained.
Other notes are inseparable from internal factors, for example, sports that have become a tradition of contributing gold medals but zero, such as rock climbing. “Yesterday, zero gold medals,” he said. Therefore, according to Mori, it is necessary to reform existing sports. KONI NTB admitted that they learned a lot from PON XXI Aceh-Sumut in preparation for hosting in 2028.
As a commitment to make NTB a success as a host, Mori will sit on Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives which handles sports, having previously chosen Commission VII for mining affairs.
“Of course, we continue to prepare. For this host preparation, we have four years. We hope that NTB will be the best host nationally,” he said. (Z-6)
