- North Rhine-Westphalia has voted. According to projections, the CDU with incumbent Wüst (almost 36 percent) is well ahead of the SPD with challenger Kuchaty (almost 27 percent).
- The Greens, with top candidate Mona Neubaur, have improved significantly to around 18 percent.
- FDP and AfD stabilize at a good five percent.
- Possible alliances are black-green, a traffic light or a grand coalition. In all likelihood, it will not be enough for red-green.
