NRCT presented guidelines for multilateral research funding at the 2022 Global Research Council (GRC) meeting in Panama.

Dr. Wiparat De Ong, Director of the National Research Office and Governing Board Member of Global Research Council (GRC) presented a multilateral research funding approach at the conference entitled “Multilateral funding for research: What are the challenges? What is the role of the GRC?” was held at the 2022 World Research Council (GRC) meeting on 31 May 2022 in Panama, in the form. Hybrid model with representatives from 4 other agencies, namely 1) Dr. Pavel Kabat from The Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP), 2) Dr. Maria Uhle from Belmont Forum 3) Dr. Marc Schiltz, President of Science Europe from Weave program and 4) Prof. Fulufhelo Nelwamondo, CEO of National Research Foundation, South Africa from the SDG GRC pilot program.

Dr. Wiparat mentioned the e-ASIA Joint Research Program or e-ASIA JRP as a successful international multilateral cooperation project in the Asia-Pacific region with 15 member countries, 22 agencies, including 10 ASEAN countries. And countries interested in participating include Australia, Japan, New Zealand, China, India, South Korea, Russia and the United States. To support joint research among East Asian countries on the basis of multilateral cooperation in the form of “Co-funding”. Research fields that are priority of NIDA with the targeted research fields of e-ASIA JRP and provide opportunities for Thai researchers to develop project proposals with researchers from other member countries. from all over the world

NRCT under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (TFS) attended the GRC Annual Meeting 3 times continuously, the first time in 2014 in the People’s Republic of China and the second time in 2014. 2015 in Japan And the last time was in May 2018 by Prof. Dr. Siriruek Songsiwilai, former secretary-general of the National Research Council of the Russian Federation and attended the GRC Regional Meeting in the Asia-Pacific region 4 times for the first time in 2012 in the country. Japan, the 2nd time in 2013 at the Republic of Korea and later in 2019, Dr. Wiparat Di Ong, Deputy Director of the National Research Office at that time attended the meeting in Indonesia And the last time was in February 2021 as acting director of the National Research Office. Through an online meeting with Prof. Dr. Siriruek Songsiwilai, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of NIH participated.
