Signature collection for the September 29 national committee election will begin on Tuesday. A political party or group that wishes to run for office but is unable to secure the support of three National Committee members must collect statements of support from this “deadline”. Meanwhile, campaign cost caps come into effect from Tuesday.

From today until the vote, political parties are limited to spending more than 8.66 million euros on election campaigns. If the limit is exceeded, severe penalties will be imposed.

In terms of collecting statements of support, a political party willing to run for office must collect between 100 and 500 statements of support in each federal state. You have until August 2nd (5pm) to do this. In order to compete across Austria, a list requires a total of 2,600 signatures.

This time, numerous small groups wanted to collect signatures. The KPÖ, which has contested every National Council election so far, is the most conventional in terms of collection. Dominik Frazny’s beer party is also considered a good chance to attend this time.

There are also names such as “Wandel”, the list of former Green Party leader Madeleine Petrovic, MFG (Human Freedom and Fundamental Rights), which is crucial for vaccination, the “SERVUS Party” founded by entrepreneurs from Carinthia , the electoral alliance “Yellow Party” and other groups, “Independent Austrians (DUO)”, “Democratic Alternative Party” and “Gaza List” have all announced that they are collecting signatures.
