LMP

On Wednesday, the Greens began collecting signatures for their initiative to hold a referendum to stop the battery factories.

As the LMP parliamentary group vice-chairman, Antal Csárdisaid at a press conference in front of the National Electoral Office (NVI), that following receiving the signature sheets, they have four months to collect 200,000 valid votes to hold the referendum. The Greens want the government to withdraw the law on strategic investments.

For the LMP, there is no doubt that the special treatment of large investors is being abused. The opposition party is not only opposed to the construction of battery factories, but also to the development of the shores of Lake Balaton and Fertő tó (Neusiedler See). Csárdi recalled that the Greens’ initiative was fought with all means by the Ministry of Construction and Transport under the leadership of János Lázár: the Kuria, the country’s Supreme Court, had to issue two rulings on the matter, just as the National Election Committee had to decide twice. Now that the Constitutional Court has also dealt with the matter, the way is now clear to collect a sufficient number of signatures to launch the referendum once morest the unwanted investment projects.
