NOW IT IS OFFICIAL: Stiven Plaza is transferred to the New York Red Bulls II

What was known a few weeks ago is now official. Stiven Plaza left Real Valladolid and is transferred to New York Red Bulls IIteam of the second division of the United States.

The Ecuadorian will have a new opportunity abroad to return to the level shown some time ago in Independiente del Valle, following his ups and downs in Europe.

Here is the official statement from the club:

New York Red Bulls II have acquired forward Stiven Plaza on a free transfer from Real Valladolid, pending league and federation approval, the club announced today.

Plaza, 23, made two La Liga appearances for Real Valladolid during his time at the club. He also played 11 games for Real Valladolid B, where he scored a goal and collected an assist.

The striker was most recently loaned out to Independiente del Valle in the Ecuadorian Serie A. He scored seven goals and provided four assists in 31 appearances for the club.

“We’re excited to bring in an attacking option like Stiven,” said sporting director Denis Hamlett. “We hope that his experience and goalscoring ability will have an immediate impact on the group.”

Plaza debuted with the Ecuadorian National Team in October 2018 at the age of 19. He has also played with the Ecuador Under-20.

“Stiven has great physical qualities that will help him thrive in our system,” interim head coach Ibrahim Sekagya said. “We’re excited to add him to our pool of attack options.”
