Now fires are breaking out in the Bay Area, and the fire in Contra Costa County has grown to nearly 500 acres

The Point Fire in Contra Costa County has grown to more than 470 acres, with evacuations in Bay Point and Concord on Friday but 40% contained as of Saturday.

It’s already been a scary weekend for California wildfires, with park fires in Butte and Tehama counties now More than 348,000 acres burned, making it the seventh-largest wildfire in California history. Currently, wildfire containment is 0%, so park fire news may get worse as the weekend approaches.

But now we have bad news, Contra Costa County is also experiencing raging fires, according to NBC Bay Area, newer Point Fire has burned at least 470 acresand issued evacuation warnings and orders in Concord and Bay Point.

The ignition fire was first reported on Friday around 3:20 pmat Evora and Nichols roads north of Highway 4 in Bay Point, SFGate reported. By 6 p.m., the fire had rapidly spread to more than 200 acres, and an evacuation order was issued for Bay Point and an evacuation warning was issued for Concord.

Cal Fire Reported at 7:36 a.m. Saturday At least 471 acres have burned and the fire is 40% contained. At that time, all evacuation orders were downgraded to warnings.

Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office Lift all evacuation notices Late Saturday morning. So far, there have been no reports of casualties as a result of the ignition, and the cause remains unclear and is under investigation.

This fire is not to be confused with last month’s Point Fire in Sonoma County, which ultimately burned more than 1,200 acres.
