The UAE has begun planning to grow palm trees on Mars. According to a foreign news agency, the United Arab Emirates Agency for Aeronautical Sciences has sent palm kernels into space. The goal of the mission is to examine how the space environment affects nuclei.
It will be evaluated on scientific basis whether palm trees can grow on Mars or not. The Emirates Agency for Aeronautical Sciences has sent palm kernels to the International Space Station. The scientific experiment is being carried out in collaboration with aeronautical experts, College of Food and Agriculture under Emirates University.
Emirati experts say that the palm kernels will be sent by a rocket launched from the American state of Florida. This rocket is going to deliver food to the space station. The palm kernels will be placed in the space station’s laboratory for observation to assess how the absence of gravity affects the kernels.
He further said that after the experimental phase is completed, the kernels will be sent back to Earth to be grown in a similar environment. If the experiment is successful, it will help in growing palm trees on Mars.
According to experts, this is the first experience of its kind in the world. We chose the palm tree because it was very dear and loved by Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan, the founder of the modern emirate. Considering the significance of the tree to the Emiratis, a new experiment is being conducted.
