A few days ago, I read news regarding the publication of the first Arabic novel by Dar Ktopia, titled “Betrayal in Morocco,” written by the novelist “chatgpt,” as mentioned on its cover, with the help of Ahmed Lotfi. I believe that we will see a stream of novels and creative books of this novelist with supernatural abilities, but they have already appeared in the Western world, and they are constantly increasing.
And because I still believe that the machine is cold and devoid of feelings, I had to ask the “Chat GBT” directly concerned, so I asked him to give me a short and precise answer regarding whether he might write a novel, and he answered me: “I am able to create a text, including That novels and stories that are similar to the novel. However, the quality and depth of the novel may not be equal to those created by human authors, who possess unique perspectives, creativity, and an understanding of human experiences.” Leaves scatter over the paper.
The truth is that all this intimidation, from which we will hear a lot regarding the creativity of the machine, does not amaze me or scare me that it takes the place of humans in creative writing, because it simply lacks the most important human feature, which is feeling and emotion. Artificial intelligence may produce a novel that is technically good, with complex scenarios and sound language, but it has no soul or dive into the human psyche with its complexities, contradictions, and surprises. Does this intelligent program make us feel the absurdity of life, as Kafka did in “The Metamorphosis” or the dull indifference that provokes us in “The Stranger” by Albert Camus, or the taste of bitterness remaining in our mouth following reading “The Kite Runner”?
These programs can be used to brighten the horizons of writing, as they provide the writer with new scenarios, suggest additional characters, and correct his linguistic errors, in a role similar to the editorial secretary in newspapers and magazines. As for creating her pure text for her, it is an experiment that still has modest results so that I would not say a failure so far.
When I read a question such as: Does artificial intelligence replace human creativity? I remember a similar discussion that was popular in the past years and is still reverberating today, regarding the extinction of the paper book in favor of the electronic book, but despite its decline, it is still printed and sold, and I do not think that it will disappear, at least in the foreseeable future.
The question remains: Will the writer “Chat GBT” win the Nobel Prize for Literature in the future? I think it is possible if we replace the old Scandinavian jury members with sexist algorithms and programs.
All this intimidation, from which we will hear a lot regarding the creativity of the machine, does not amaze me or scare me from taking the place of humans in creative writing, because it simply lacks the most important human feature, which is feeling and emotion.
