“Novation City” strengthens its technological positioning by joining forces with Nvidia, the world leader in artificial intelligence. Thanks to this unprecedented partnership, the technology park aims to raise Tunisia into the global AI value chain.
The Sousse competitiveness cluster, “Novation City”, has just formalized its partnership with the AI giant, “Nvidia”. After a year and a half of collaboration, the technology park, known for being at the forefront of new technologies, announced, Tuesday, September 17, the inauguration of the first AI innovation hub, built in collaboration with the world leader in artificial intelligence.
Developer training
A first in the Middle East and Africa region, which has generated enthusiasm not only from the startups hosted by the technology park, but also from the entire Tunisian innovation ecosystem. “This is a major achievement, not only for Tunisia, but also for the entire region,” said Hichem Turki, CEO of Novation City.
Attracted by the availability of highly qualified human resources, including developers and entrepreneurs, as well as the geographical proximity to Europe and the rest of Africa, “Nvidia” has bet on the Tunisian site. Training developers in the advanced technologies of the American company is the first step in this partnership.
“The next phase is based on three main elements. First, we will continue to train more developers through a Deep Learning Institute program called DLI. We have over 40 ambassadors here in Tunisia, already trained on our technology, and we plan to expand this number by training even more developers on Nvidia platforms.
Second, we are exploring other innovative ways to invest in Tunisia, including funding additional startups and connecting them to companies through our Inception program. Finally, the third pillar is our research program, aimed at supporting research efforts in Tunisia,” explained Susan Marshall, representative of “Nvidia”.
Developing the sector mechatronics in Tunisia
For his part, Hichem Turki declared to The Press that this partnership is perfectly aligned with the objectives of “Novation City”, which aims to develop the mechatronics sector in Tunisia, of which artificial intelligence is an integral part. “We must be in line with the technologies used internationally, because this is what will allow us to bring added value to Tunisia and keep it here. By attracting “Nvidia”, we want to retain our young talents and offer them all the opportunities, as if they were abroad, in order to be able to develop startups here, with all the necessary resources,” he stressed.
He also added that through this partnership, “Novation City” aims to position Tunisia higher in the AI value chain. Turki specified, in this sense, that the competitiveness cluster has invested in “Nvidia” technologies, particularly in terms of computing capacity, “Nvidia” being the world leader in this field. “With this computing capacity, we can have increasingly intelligent and increasingly valuable startups for the country and for the startup itself,” he specified.
Turki also added that training is a pillar of this partnership since it allows to train specialists on “Nvidia” technologies, emphasizing that the technology park will continue to invest in computing capacity.
It is worth noting that the recently announced hub will provide resources and training for AI research, development and application through Nvidia’s Deep Learning Institute. By bringing together universities, technology companies and industry professionals, the hub aims to create an ecosystem conducive to AI learning and experimentation, positioning Novation City as a center of excellence for AI in Tunisia.
