“I hope my career can last up to 40 years and even beyond. I feel good in my body. I play high quality tennis, 2023 was one of the best seasons of my life. Why stop when we’re still playing very well? I’m going to continue, take the years one by one and see how far it goes,” said the Serbian in a video interview conducted on the occasion of the Riyadh Season Tennis Cup.

The man with 24 Grand Slam tournaments took as an example the great American football player Tom Brady, whom he “knows personally and from whom he learned a lot”.

“He is a superb example of a champion who has had a great career and great longevity. He has spent a lot of time looking after himself and recovering well to make sure he takes all aspects into account of his body and mind in order to have a long and successful career,” he said.

Djokovic must face his young Spanish rival Carlos Alcaraz on Wednesday in an exhibition match before heading to Perth where he will play the United Cup, his preparation event for the Australian Open (January 14-28).
