World number four Novak Djokovic will face Jannik Sinner in the final match of the Shanghai Masters, Sunday (13/10).
The Serb overcame a hip injury to beat American Taylor Fritz 6-4 and 7-6 (8/6) to face Sinners, who beat Tomas Machac 6-4 and 7-5 in the other semi-final.
The 37-year-old won easily in the first set but, in the second round, the 24-time Grand Slam champion’s dominance faded due to problems with his hip.

Fritz saved three break points in the fifth game of the second set to lead 3-2.
Djokovic, who withdrew from this year’s French Open due to a knee injury, requested a medical timeout due to a hip problem when Fritz was leading 6-5.
When Fritz tried to end the second set with a win, Djokovic held serve and forced the match to go to a tiebreak.

Fritz had a 6-5 lead in the tiebreak but Djokovic won the next two sets before serving out to seal the win.
“I experienced a little problem on the court but managed to overcome it,” said Djokovic.
“This always happens to me, especially towards the end of tournaments. At this point in my career I’m just trying hard to recover,” he continued. (bbc/Z-1)
