Described the Ukrainian presidency Destruction of the Nova Kakhovka DamTuesday, as a “war crime”. Oleksey Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, said on Twitter today, Tuesday, that President Volodymyr Zelensky will hold an emergency meeting regarding the collapse of the Nova Kakhovka Dam in the south of the country.
Zelensky said that targeting the Nova Kakhovka Dam confirms the need to expel Russian forces from all Ukrainian lands. He added, “Russia will not be able to stop Ukraine, whether by cutting off water, missiles or anything else.”
Ukraine’s foreign minister said Russia’s destruction of the Nova Kakhovka dam was the biggest technological disaster in Europe in decades, adding that destroying the dam was a “heinous war crime” that endangered thousands of civilians.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Interior called on residents of 10 villages on the right bank of the river and parts of the city of Kherson to collect their basic documents and pets, turn off the devices and leave the area, warning once morest misleading information.
“The Russian army has committed another terrorist act,” Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson regional military administration, said in a videotaped video via Telegram shortly before 7 a.m., and warned that the water level would rise to “critical levels” within five hours.
“TASS” quoted the Novaya Kakhovka authorities as saying that the water level had risen to 12 meters following the destruction of part of the Kakhovka hydroelectric station, noting that the Novaya Kakhovka Dam was targeted by a missile from the Ukrainian “Olkha” missile launcher. A local official said that there is a threat of collapse of regarding 300 houses in the flood area following the Nova Kakhovka Dam was targeted.
