Nour El Sharif’s holdings.. Bossi breaks her silence

After the great controversy that arose in the past hours due to the holdings ofThe late Egyptian artist Nour El SherifAnd the news of it being offered for sale on the sidewalks and in the antiques market, the wife of the late artist, Bossi, broke her silence.

Bossi expressed her surprise at the accusations of negligence against her, and confirmed that all the belongings of the late are still in his home and nothing has come out of them.

We do not accept negligence!

She added that the family never accepts neglecting everything related to Nour Al-Sharif, explaining that it gave the Library of Alexandria all the holdings related to it to ensure its preservation on the one hand, and to be available to all Nour’s fans, who are many, on the other hand, according to her statement to the “Middle East” newspaper.

She also stressed that the Bibliotheca Alexandrina had promised to hold a celebration on this occasion, but it did not.

She also pointed out that there was someone who seized some of the holdings that had been taken from his office in his lifetime and demanded money in return for their return, and the family reached an understanding with these more than once, that they stopped doing so because it was illogical to pay money to buy things of no great value.

In addition, she made it clear that she did not want to respond to the recent false rumors, but then had to clarify the situation.

Not the first time

It is noteworthy that this incident was not the first, as the issue of Al-Sharif’s holdings returned to the front a full year after it was opened.

It was previously circulated by some last year, but the Egyptian art critic Essam Zakaria spoke of severe neglect faced by priceless holdings.

He accused the late artist’s family at the time of throwing his belongings, including albums, shields, badges, books and papers, to the street, where they are now sold in the antiques market.

He also pointed out that some of these holdings are outside Egypt at the present time, stressing that he himself bought some of them, as they took pictures of family occasions.

It is noteworthy that the Sharif family had donated his private holdings to the Library of Alexandria on the anniversary of his first birthday, which followed his death about a year later, specifically in April of 2016, according to his will.

The holdings included an important set of photographs collected by a number of artists and during his various honors, as well as an album of his wedding photos to the artist Bossi, and his family also donated his own library containing thousands of books in all fields.

After the accusations, the library explained that it had received in May 2016 a gift from the family of the late artist, represented in 6022 books, in addition to 167 papers for his production company, and 9 notebooks written in his handwriting in which he wrote thoughts and notes. She stressed that visitors can view these holdings in their place inside the library at any time, denying that there were any albums, shields or badges that were handed over to the library at an earlier time.
