The Supreme Court has issued this decision in response to the petitions. The petitioners were of the view that the purpose of such orders is to isolate people from each other on the basis of identity.

The Supreme Court said that the shopkeepers on the Kannur Yatra routes will prominently display the food items they normally serve instead of their names.
