DOZENS of parents of students, the majority of whom are mothers, together with volunteers from the Depok City People’s Health Council (DKR) again stormed the Secretariat of the School Principals’ Working Conference (MKKS) on Jalan Jeruk, Sukatani Village, Tapos District, Wednesday (3/7).
They asked for certainty about the fate of students from economically disadvantaged families (KETM) who were eliminated in the new student admission selection (PPDB) for the 2024-2025 academic year.
While carrying protest posters, dozens of mothers also shouted asking the Head of MMKS SMAN Depok Mamad Mahfudin to realize the demands. However, Mamad was not at the MMKS Office which happened to be in the same area as the SMAN 4 Depok Building.
“According to our demands, all children of poor parents can be accommodated in state high schools, period, no comma,” said the Head of the Depok City DKR, Roy Pangharapan.
He said that the parents of the students asked Mamad to accommodate the demands of 50 KETM residents to the heads of SMAN under the auspices of MKKS in the Depok area.
“In Depok there are 15 SMAN and all of them reject poor students. So the MKKS Chairperson must be responsible. The MKKS Chairperson has no conscience in dealing with this problem,” he said.
Previously, the parents of these students held a similar action at the location, Tuesday (25/6). They threatened to bring a larger crowd if their demands were not met. In essence, the 2024 PPDB process must be carried out transparently. (J-2)
