“Not Only Rail Traffic but also other modes affected between Mons and La Louvière”

A malfunctioning train in Poix-Saint-Hubert has caused a halt in rail traffic between Grupont and Hatrival on the Namur-Arlon line. The train has been immobilized on the lone available track since 6:15 a.m. and another train has been dispatched to assist. This delay is affecting both directions of travel and causing significant disruptions in both Arlon and Brussels. Infrabel is hopeful that the track will be cleared soon. Additionally, this latest incident compounds the ongoing planned maintenance work on the RER project, which is causing a stoppage of rail traffic between Nivelles and Brussels-Midi from April 1-9.

In Poix-Saint-Hubert, a train that has been out of order since 6:15 a.m. is immobilized on the only available track, causing the stoppage of rail traffic between Grupont and Hatrival on the Namur-Arlon line.

A train has been sent to tow the broken down one. This has repercussions before and following on this same line and significant delays are observed in both directions, with consequences both in Arlon and in Brussels. Infrabel indicates that the track might be freed up quickly.

These two incidents come on top of the (planned) stoppage of rail traffic between Nivelles and Brussels-Midi due to work on the RER project. This work takes place from April 1 to 9.

In conclusion, it seems that today has been a rough day for rail traffic in Belgium. With a train out of order and planned work on the RER project, delays and disruptions have been felt along the Namur-Arlon line and even extending to Nivelles and Brussels-Midi. While Infrabel assures that the track will be freed up quickly, we can’t help but hope for smoother sailing on the tracks in the future.
