Not one step forward! How the war destroyed the Russian auto industry in six months

Six months of the war showed that the automotive industry in Russia was originally created as an import-dependent, vulnerable, dependent. In peacetime, this is called international integration and is considered a scenario suitable for countries like Sudan.

Strategy 2035: new factories for old cars

In the conditions of war and forced technological sovereignty, this means that all forces and money in the coming years will be directed to recreating backward industries and technologies. The current task of the Russian automotive industry is to build new plants for the production of old cars. The Strategy for the Development of the Automotive Industry until 2035 provides for 2.7 trillion rubles for this.

The Strategy should not be perceived as a far-sighted forecast of the future with skillful recommendations for development in the difficult conditions of economic sanctions.

Firstly, it was written by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, which does not understand anything in the production of cars. The only thing the Ministry of Industry and Trade can do is twist arms, dictate, command and coerce, but not for the sake of a reasonable result, but for self-respect. The Ministry of Industry and Trade considers itself the commandant of a concentration camp, whose task is to keep prisoners and kapos – car factories – in fear. Therefore, all previous activities of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in the automotive industry were reduced to stupid decisions on industrial assembly No. 166, 566, 718 and Special Investment Contracts (SPICs).

With these resolutions and SPIKs, the Ministry of Industry and Trade achieved socialist indicators for the shaft in order to report every year on an increase in the number of cars. With the same stupid decrees, the Ministry of Industry and Trade created excess capacity, disorganized the work of foreign automakers, trampled on the country’s investment prospects and showed that the Russians still change the rules as the game progresses and the only thing they know how to do is create artificial problems.

Secondly, the co-author of the Strategy was the failed Federal State Unitary Enterprise NAMI, which failed to cope with the Cortege project (Aurus) and proved its incapacity even with unlimited funding. In addition to the failure with the Aurus, NAMI is famous for the Technical Regulations of the Customs Union, the Rules of the State Technical Inspection and the SATR fund, which collects dues from all motorists in the country for any attempt to put a new light bulb, mudguard or radio tape recorder. It was thanks to the NAMI regulations in Russia that the technical inspection had to be canceled, since it turned out to be impossible to complete it, and thanks to the CATR fund, drivers cannot change anything in their own car without certification, tests in the laboratory and a package of paid papers and permits.

Two organizations, as a result of which the Russian automotive industry received supervision and stagnation instead of development and prospects, are not able to write a rescue scenario.
