“My season was modest.” Vincent Kriechmayr is a friend of clear words. This was also the case when the Gramastettner took stock of the past World Cup winter on ServusTV on Monday.
“A podium in the downhill. That’s not what I want. In a season without a major event, a ball is the declared goal, but that wasn’t what we wanted. The performance just wasn’t right and the competition was better,” said the Gramastett native, who was two Won Super-G race.
“The start of the season simply wasn’t successful. I won the first Super-G, but especially in the downhill it didn’t go as planned at all,” said the 32-year-old.
It was difficult for him to explain why it didn’t want to run at all, especially on the descent.
“I think I wanted to go one better. Last year I won four races and was still second in the Downhill World Cup. I really wanted to win the ball and then I was very dogged and worked a lot on the material and maybe got used to it “I’m not too distracted and no longer so focused on my skiing,” said Kriechmayr.
He had a mistake in his technique, which in turn had a negative impact on his confidence. “And if I don’t have the trust, then I can’t push myself to the limit.”
