Not everything is more expensive: These are the products that have decreased in value in the last year in Chile | Economy

According to figures from the National Institute of Statistics (INE), not all are increases in the prices of products and services, due to the sustained and general rise in the CPI. Computing and clothing are some products that have seen their values ​​drop during this 2022 and in the past 12 months.

During August, in the midst of the inflation that Chile and the world are facing, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 1.2% percent, noting an increase in the price of 303 products and services of the basic basket, but with another 33 that did register a drop in their values.

It should be noted that the same figure adds an unprecedented increase of 14.1% in the last 12 months, something that has not been seen since September 1992, which has generated concern among the authorities, due to a possible inflationary spiral.

Inflation in Chile. What products lowered their prices?

According to what was reported by the INE303 products and services of the basic basket that make up the CPI rose in price in August, amid inflation in Chile.

But on the other hand, there were 33 products that did register a drop in their values, in the last 12 months.

According to the study, the products that presented the greatest declines at the national level are:

mobile phone equipmentwhose value fell 17% nationally between January and August, and 20% in the last 12 months.

Bicycleswhich fell 18%, both so far this year and in the last 12 months.

Shirts, blouses, t-shirts and children’s: fell 13% between January and August and 15%, over a year.

Sportswear and swimwear for women: fell 15% in both measurements.

computers: 7 percent between January and August and 12% in the last 12 months.

Shoes for woman: 12% so far this year and 9.8% in the last 12 months.

Women’s shoes: 10%, between January and August and 9.4%.

Women’s trousers, skirt and dress: -8.2% between January and August and -9.3% in the last 12 months.
