Not a best evening for PEC Zwolle: unbeaten run ends and yet another player gets injured | PEC Zwolle

Not only does PEC Zwolle’s unbeaten run (0-1) come to an end on Saturday evening once morest Almere City FC, the team also sees another player injured.

Two teams known for their disciplined play. For example, PEC Zwolle coach Johnny Jansen announces the match between his team and Almere City on Friday and a day later it turns out that there was no lie.

The result? A first half in which hardly anything happens, apart from attempts by Eliano Reijnders and Davy van den Berg. Nordin Bakker doesn’t panic.

Just before half time, Almere City is dangerous through Jochem Ritmeester van de Kamp, following which Jason van Duiven shoots over. At that moment, Johnny Jansen was forced to make a substitution following Kaj de Rooij was injured. The attacker makes his basic debut for PEC, following he left NAC on a free transfer following months of injuries to his knee.

Side net

After the break, more happens than in the first half, with a chance for Ritmeester van de Kamp, from which PEC goalkeeper Schendelaar saves. Moments later, Lennart Thy has the chance to give the home team the lead, but his shot ends up in the side netting.

Twenty minutes before the end, Thomas Robinet opens the score with a long shot: the ball ends up in the top corner, Schendelaar has no chance (0-1). Time for PEC to give something back and that is why Jansen brings super sub Tolis Vellios into the team. Will he finally break the game for PEC?

Almere City is the most threatening. Rajiv van la Parra comes dangerously in front of Schendelaar’s goal, but uses the opportunity poorly. PEC also fails to get a shot on target in the final phase and so that statistic remains at one: Van den Berg’s blast in the first half.

It is significant for the match.

PEC Zwolle line-up: Schendelaar; Reijnders (78. Krastev), Kersten, Lam, Mac Nulty; El Azzouzi, Velanas, Van den Berg; Namli, Thy, De Rooij (20. Van der Water, 78. Vellios).
