Buyers of Tesla products have enough complaints regarding both the operation of on-board software and the build quality of the machines themselves, which in general does not really prevent the company from being considered the largest supplier of electric vehicles in the world. A Norwegian consumer group has published a list of more than twenty shortcomings of Tesla’s electric vehicles, threatening to go on a hunger strike if Elon Musk does not attempt to fix these shortcomings.
The initiative group began its message by mentioning the highest per capita popularity of Tesla electric vehicles in Norway compared to other countries. According to enthusiasts, many car owners at the same time express dissatisfaction with the consumer qualities of these products. A list of shortcomings that the company must, in the opinion of the initiative group, be sure to eliminate, turned out imposing:
- Electric car won’t start in cold weather
- Door handles do not extend in cold weather
- Hearing a constant beep
- Electric car won’t start in warm weather
- The seats are uneven under the surface of the upholstery
- Front seats are not secure
- Rain water gets under the trunk lid
- Internet connection does not provide normal information exchange speed
- Wiper blades not working well
- Squeaks heard when going over bumps
- Decorative moldings on the body do not hold
- Lights and door locks not working properly
- On-board computer not working
- Yellow stripes visible along the edge of the display on the center console
- Door windows not fully closed
- On-board systems spontaneously reboot
- There are problems when charging, especially for owners of old modifications on new charging stations
- The power plant is limited in power
- On new machines there are problems with the quality of the paintwork
- Rust occurs on new cars (especially Tesla Model 3)
- Traction battery life is lower than promised by the manufacturer
- There are problems with the operation of the air conditioning system
- Not all problems are solved in the service promptly, specialists do not contact customers, although they promise to do so
- It is not always possible to use free charging
- When trying to call the service, you have to wait a long time on the line
It is still difficult to say whether this petition will turn into a mass hunger strike, as the initiators of the action threaten, but they will definitely attract public attention. The initiative group’s website also has a looping video showing the word “HELP” made up of Tesla electric vehicles. Apparently, Norwegian car owners are convinced that Elon Musk is able to correct the listed defects and shortcomings in the service of electric vehicles of this brand.
