North Korean leader Kim Jong-un presided over a nationwide emergency quarantine meeting and declared that the COVID-19 crisis had been completely resolved.
In a public speech, Kim Yo-jong, the younger sister of Chairman Kim Jong-un, deputy director of the Workers’ Party of Korea, threatened to consider a strong retaliatory response, claiming that the coronavirus was introduced into North Korea by the South.
The Korean Central News Agency reported today that “a national emergency quarantine meeting convened by the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the Cabinet of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea was held in Pyongyang, the capital, on August 10.”
Chairman Kim said at this meeting, “On behalf of the Party Central Committee and the government of the Republic of Korea, at this time, I declare that we have won the victory in the greatest emergency prevention battle to eradicate the new coronavirus that has flowed into the territory and protect the life and health of the people.” said.
Chairman Kim declared, “Our party and government will lower the quarantine rating from today to the normal quarantine system with increased tension from the maximum emergency quarantine system that has been in operation since May 12.”
After Chairman Kim’s speech, Vice Minister Kim Yeo-jung, who was a debater, said, “The national crisis we are experiencing this time is clearly caused by the anti-republican confrontational madness of the enemies who are trying to crush our country by igniting a global health crisis.”
Deputy Director Kim said, “The fact that the area close to the front line was the initial source made it impossible not to doubt the things of South Korea. It is natural to see.”
“We must take a strong response,” Kim said.
This is the first time that Vice-Chairman Kim has spoken in public, and it seems that he is taking seriously the South’s dispensing of leaflets to North Korea and showing his intentions to raise the level of warning once morest South Korea.
