Five North Korean drones flew into South Korean airspace on Dec. 26, prompting the South Korean military to deploy fighter jets and attack helicopters. None of the drones, which flew over the territory for hours, might be brought down. Since they were only three meters long, it was a difficult job.
Initially, the military top in Seoul denied that any of the drones had been spotted in the no-fly zone over the presidential residence, but on Thursday the army confirmed that the drone had flown in the northern part of the zone. According to the army, the drone would not have flown directly over the Yongsan district, where the official residence of President Yoon Suk-yeol is located.
The fact that the drones managed to cross the border has already led to fierce criticism of South Korean air defenses, just as the North poses a growing threat.
