(PLO) – North Korea’s Foreign Ministry warned Pyongyang will have “unprecedented and strong reactions” if the US and South Korea push forward with military drills as planned.
News agency KCNA North Korea’s foreign ministry spokesman, speaking on condition of anonymity, warned on February 17 that Pyongyang would react “unprecedely” if the United States and South Korea push ahead with military drills as planned.
“If the United States and South Korea carry out their announced military drills, which North Korea sees as preparations for war, they will face unprecedentedly strong and persistent reactions. “- said the spokesman.
A series of military drills by the United States and its allies earlier this year “predict that the situation on the Korean peninsula and the region will once more fall into a spiral of serious escalation,” according to a spokesman for North Korea’s foreign ministry. .

The official added that North Korea “must come up with a response because the US and South Korea have openly revealed a dangerous attempt to gain lasting military advantage.”
Pyongyang’s announcement comes as Washington and Seoul prepare for annual military exercises, the most recent of which is Freedom Shield, which will take place in the coming weeks.
In this statement, North Korea’s foreign ministry also said it would consider further military action if the United Nations Security Council, under the influence of the US, continues to put pressure on Pyongyang.
