North Kivu: arrest of the Provincial Director of the ANR and his 2 deputies for complicity with the M23

The provincial director of the National Intelligence Agency (ANR), his two deputies and the civilian spokesperson for the governor of North Kivu have been under arrest in Goma since Tuesday February 13 and then transferred the same day to Kinshasa.

The General Directorate of Military Intelligence accuses them of complicity with the M23 rebellion, supported by Rwanda.

This service of the national army claims to have acted in this way after having intercepted communications between the incriminated people and the M23 rebels.

The new civilian spokesperson for the military governor of North Kivu, who had just been appointed a few weeks ago, was a member of Corneille Nangaa’s political party, which he had left shortly before the elections.

Contacted on this subject, the military spokesperson for the Governor of North Kivu, Lieutenant-Colonel Njike Kaiko indicated without further details that this file is in the hands of the courts.

These arrests were made while fighting raged between the FARDC, local militiamen and the M23 rebels, supported by the Rwandan army, in the surroundings of Sake, Masisi territory (North Kivu).
