Rain clouds are moving across the area, pouring a sudden downpour.

Apple fields and paddy fields close to 6,600 square meters were covered with soil and tree branches washed in from nearby rivers and became a swampy field.

Trees and by-products that floated into the river accumulated on this pier, obstructing the flow of water and raising the water level. Eventually, the overflowing river flooded the orchard.

That’s because in just four or five hours, 79mm of heavy rain fell in this area.

Farmers who have ruined their crops for the past year without any time to spare can only sigh.

“I try to save as much as I can, and if it doesn’t work, I have to throw it away, and the rice fields have been completely discarded.

In other villages, rivers overflowed with less buried water pipes under construction by the Rural Community Corporation, and nearby orchards were flooded.

“There was a heavy rain forecast for regarding a month, but the exposed part of the river (water pipe) was left unattended.

Initially, 5 to 40 mm of rain was expected in northern Gyeongsangbuk-do, but there were places where it rained as much as 67 mm per hour due to localized torrential downpours.

Soil spills were also reported in Yeongju and Yeongyang, respectively, and in Andong in two cases.

In the morning of yesterday, 65mm of torrential rain fell for 6 hours in the morning, followed by rain damage in Wonju, Gangwon-do.

As the riverside mountain slope collapsed, some of the cafe facilities fell several meters down the slope, and the village roads around the valley were also damaged, and a temporary safety structure was installed.

The muddy water also flooded nearby residential areas, submerging dozens of houses and vehicles.

The Korea Meteorological Administration predicted that rain of around 5 millimeters would fall in Gangwon, Chungbuk, and northern Gyeongsangbuk-do starting from tomorrow night.
