Norris and Piastri Reflect on their Performances in the Sprint Race: Insights and Reactions

2023-11-04 19:34:00

Lando Norris started from pole position in the sprint, but was overtaken by Max Verstappen in the first turn. The McLaren driver finished second and later stated that he acted too cautiously in the first meters of the race.

Oscar Piastri fought with his rivals the entire distance, but finished the same as he started – tenth.

Lando Norris (2nd): “I don’t think Max had more power. I guess I had more power.

I need to rewatch the restart. I got off to a good start, but the second part of the start was a little conservative. I don’t think my wheels were spinning – I was just being careful. Tomorrow there is something to add.

Also, I slept through George Russell’s attack a little on the first lap, but then my pace was high. I tried to stay behind Max, but I wasn’t fast enough. Overall it was fun.”

Oscar Piastri (10th): “The race was really fun and, of course, eventful. I had a good start and then at Turn 4 I tried to improve my position but I overdid it a little. Because of this, everything I played was lost.

In general, there were a lot of events, that’s for sure, but we figured out a lot – both in terms of working with tires and in terms of conducting the race correctly. This information will be useful to us in the process of preparing for Sunday’s Grand Prix, so tonight we will analyze it in detail, and then we will see what we will be able to achieve tomorrow.

Overall, I’m in a pretty confident mood. Tomorrow I will start from the same 10th position from which I started the sprint, but there will be completely different cars around my McLaren. Let’s see what conclusions we come to by analyzing the results of Saturday, and let’s hope that tomorrow we will be able to perform more successfully.”
