Greg Norman, CEO of LIV Golf Investments, has been asked not to participate in a tournament he has created.

CEO Norman said on his SNS on the 21st (Korean time) that he had been asked not to attend the QBE shootout. QBE Shootout is an event included in the PGA Tour schedule and has been hosted by Norman since 1989. The venue is also the Tiburon Golf Club Gold Course in Naples, Florida, USA, designed by CEO Norman.

However, QBE Shootout drew a line with Norman, who leads the LIV Golf Invitational (LIV), which is in conflict with the PGA Tour. CEO Norman wrote, “Since its establishment in 1989, I have exhibited and hosted the event for 33 consecutive years, but I was asked not to attend this year.

Coincidentally, the QBE Shootout is a tournament where CEO Norman met privately with PGA Tour players in 1994 to discuss the world tour he had envisioned. At that time, Norman prepared for the launch of the world tour with the goal of winning 3 million dollars in eight tournaments in which only the top 30-40 players on the PGA Tour compete.

At the time, it was known that Norman had even secured the TV broadcasting rights of the world tour, but that did not come true. Afterwards, a stage for star players was created, such as the establishment of the World Golf Championship (WGC) led by the PGA Tour, and CEO Norman launched LIV in 2022 with the support of Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund.
