Kadri Voorand is an Estonian singer, adored in Estonia and the world. A songwriter and creator of special shows, she is invited and welcomed in all halls, including the Tallinn Philharmonic, at world music festivals. K. Voorand is a well-known vocalist whose original music and expression have brought her many prizes and performances in Estonia and abroad. She has performed in many countries such as Great Britain, Germany, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Hungary, Norway, China, Italy, Poland, etc.
Her unique blend of traditional music, folklore, jazz and improvisational pop music and her heartfelt storytelling during concerts present her as one of the most authentic performers on the European scene today. At the end of October, K. Voorand is coming to Lithuania together with Mikhel Mälgand (double bass, guitar). The duo will hold three exclusive performances in Klaipėda, Kaunas and Vilnius.

The most beloved children’s character – Kakė Makė, together with other heroes of the book series, will be reborn in installations of light sculptures in Vilnius Vingios Park! From October 26, Kakė Makė will invite young and old alike to immerse themselves in the magical world of lights and lanterns, where many surprises and adventures await.

Honeypaw | Folklore concert – In the Art and Music Department of the Ėuolynas Library, Kaunas.
Matti and Jurgita’s duet from Canada will perform never-before-heard works – Finnish folklore will intertwine with Lithuanian. During the concert, we will hear less common instruments such as the jouhikko.
Honeypaw is a duo of Jurgita Žvinklytė and Matti Palonen, formed after Jurgita’s 2019 moved to Toronto (Canada). Since then, they have been performing traditional songs in Lithuanian, Finnish and Karelian languages on kankle, kantele and jouhikko instruments in Canada and Europe.

The cello star representing Germany and France will perform at the National Philharmonic with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Modestas Pitrėnas. “The quality that makes his interpretations special is the ability to communicate directly. The sound he produces is characterized by such purity and warmth that every note sounds like the words of a master storyteller,” The Australian newspaper wrote about the cellist.

One of the most beautiful performances in the repertoire of the world’s opera theaters returns to the LNOBT stage – G. Puccini’s opera “Turandot”. A tale full of metaphors and allegories about the cruel princess Turandot, an epic symbolist drama, an exceptional opera in the entire work of G. Puccini.
“Turandot” was staged for the first time in 2003 at the Lithuanian Opera. (conductor Stefan Lano, director Detlef Sölter, artists Friedrich Despalmes, Monika Biegler). This time, it is embodied on our stage by the conductor Modest Pitrėnas and the director of exceptional character, who is also the scenography and lighting artist in this production, Robert Wilson.

Berlin collective ENSEMBLE MOSAIK: a concert for 9 synthesizers by the famous German composer ENNO POPPE – In the art printing house.

Enno Poppe, one of today’s most famous German composers, brings an impressive work for 9 synthesizers to Vilnius with the famous Berlin ensemble. October 30 at the international topical music festival “Gaida 2024” his most impressive work of the last decade “Rundfunk” – a one-hour electronic music composition for 9 synthesizers – will be played. In cooperation with the Goethe Institute, this work is brought to Vilnius by the luminary of Berlin’s new music scene – “ensemble mosaik” (Germany). The concert is held at the Arts Printing House. Enno Poppe will be visiting Vilnius as a guest composer of the festival, and the Lithuanian audience will be able to hear Enno’s other acclaimed works at various concerts of the festival (Lithuanian national and state symphony orchestras, cello group “Cello Club”).

Life is a dream by Pedro Calderón de la Barca, the most famous Spanish dramatist of the mature Baroque, intertwines adventure, philosophy, revenge, desire for honor, love and intrigue. Interpreting this classic play, the creators of the play analyze the conflict between free will choices and fate, delve into the contradictions of existing and emerging reality, examine questions of justice and wisdom.
Gediminas Rimeika, director: “In the play ‘Life is a dream’, fundamental themes spread that have already become archetypes of our everyday life. This is the desire for honor, love, origin. Calderón portrays people burning with true passion and shows the paths they are willing to take in the name of their cause. In the performance, classical theater merges with avant-garde theater, thus giving the audience the opportunity to immerse themselves in a dream full of intrigue, love, hurt and revenge.”

“A convert. Count Potocki from Vilnius” is a three-act composition-libretto by Jonas Vaitkaus based on the dramatic legend of the artist and writer Šolom Zelmanavičius “The Good Tzedek. Count Potockis from Vilnius”, works of art, written and spoken sources of Jewish culture.
Sh. The legend of Zelmanavičius “Ger tzedek”. Count Potocki from Vilnius” in Yiddish (“Ger cedek. Vilner graf Potocki”) was published in 1934 in a very small edition. in Kaunas. Ger tzedek is a Hebrew term that means a righteous proselyte, a person who converted to the Jewish faith, a convert.

ARTYN theater performance “DADDY’S TOYS” – Klaipėda Drama Theater.
“Father’s Toys” is a story about actors stuck in the twists and turns of purgatory, who try to find redemption, forgiveness and salvation while rehearsing their own lives. The actors, led by the mysterious Director, become chess pieces pushed by the Director and try to discover the most unexpected moves that lead to the much-desired redemption. However, not all chess games are easy to understand, not all are winnable. Sometimes you have to play again and again to find that one, most correct, fateful move – defeating death. But does such a move exist? Maybe the Director is trying in vain to find a way to salvation and his fight against evil is fruitless?

As in all folklore ensembles “Next” in concert programs, as well as in this one – “Do you remember this tune..?” – folk songs sung in the last century, but still not forgotten today, nostalgic romances, the ensemble will intrigue with more modern, sometimes even playful interpretations of time-tested popular melodies.
“MADAM RUBINŠTEIN” by John Mist (Director: Raimundas Banionis) – Vilnius Old Theater.
This is a new comedy by Australian playwright John Mist, revealing the 20th century. behind the scenes of middle America’s beauty industry. In the center of this plot is a real historical figure, the lioness of the cosmetics business, Helena Rubinstein (1872-1965). She experienced an astonishing career leap from the scion of a poor Polish Jewish expatriate family to the world’s leading cosmetics entrepreneur. Family conflicts and a fierce fight with competitors were intertwined in her fate. “Here, opponents throw down gauntlets of challenge to each other, baring their nail polish guns and smiling bloody lipstick smiles,” said 2017. this comedy was presented to the public by the British press.
Full Speed Back Show – in Šiauliai’s ladies’ theater.
Directed by Arvydas Lebeliūnas, the poignantly comic story about the journey of two sisters, Aneta and Bernadette, in search of the grave of their father who died 25 years ago.
The 17 short episodes of the play are the vicissitudes of this somewhat macabre journey, enhanced by a criminal element (the sisters are traveling in a huge bus that has been driven off). The genre of the play is described as a musical comedy, but it does not lack lyrical passages, deep drama and sincere human content.
The play by the young playwright Pierre Notte was a huge success in France, both with the audience and the critics. in 2008 critics declared it the best play of the year. Humor, bright sadness and longing to come to terms with the shadows of the past are perfectly combined in this cheerfully told story of dramatic experiences. An important place in the performance is occupied by music and songs performed live by excellent actresses.

I find beauty in the simplicity of folk music and aim to communicate deep emotions through it, often using elements of jazz to create a dynamic soundscape.
**Editor:** You’ll be joined on this tour by Mikhel Mälgand. How does collaboration enhance your performances?
**Kadri Voorand:** Mikhel is an extraordinary musician, and our dynamic adds a deeper level to our performances. His skills on the double bass and guitar complement my vocals beautifully. We have a wonderful synergy that brings emotions to life on stage, allowing us to explore and reinterpret the music together.
**Editor:** This tour will include performances in notable venues like the Kaunas State Philharmonic and St. Catherine’s Church. How do you feel about performing in such historic places?
**Kadri Voorand:** Performing in historic venues adds an incredible aura to the concerts. These spaces have their own stories and resonate with the emotions tied to music. I believe that a venue shapes the experience for both the artists and the audience, and I’m looking forward to bringing my music into those environments.
**Editor:** Lastly, what would you like your audiences in Lithuania to take away from your concerts?
**Kadri Voorand:** I hope that audiences feel a connection—not just to the music but to the stories behind it. My goal is to evoke emotions and perhaps spark reflections on their own lives and experiences. Music is a universal language, and I want everyone to leave feeling inspired and uplifted.
