Its objective is to support investment, encourage job creation and strengthen regional economic attractiveness and competitiveness, with subsidies awarded to hundreds of projects developed in the eight northern provinces and prefectures.

Initially planned for the beginning of last July, the official launch of the new business support fund “NorDev” has just taken place, on the sidelines of the work of the first ordinary session of the start of the school year of the regional council of Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima (CRTTA), which were held on Monday, October 2, at the region’s headquarters in Tangier. Endowed with 1 billion dirhams over 5 years, this new fund was able to “see the light of day thanks to the mobilization of the wilaya, the region of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, the Agency for the Promotion and Development of the North (APDN ) and the regional investment center (CRI)”, recalled Omar Moro, president of the CRTTA, during the official launch of this fund, which took place in the presence of Mohamed Mhidia, wali of the region, the representatives partner institutions and relevant stakeholders as well as regional elected officials.

For more details and as highlighted by those responsible for this file within the region, the objective of NorDev is to support investment, encourage job creation and strengthen regional economic attractiveness and competitiveness, thanks to subsidies granted to hundreds of projects, already existing or intended to be developed in the eight provinces and prefectures in the North: Al Hoceima, Chefchaouen, Ouazzane, Larache, Fahs-Anjra, Tétouan, M’diq-Fnideq, Tangier- Asilah. The Fund, whose premises have been set up within the CRTTA (as one of the four main partners of this project), targets four categories of project leaders, namely cooperatives, self-entrepreneurs, very small companies (VSEs), small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and large companies (GE), particularly in the sectors of agriculture and agro-industry, the blue economy and aquaculture, renewable energies and the transformation and valorization of waste, industry, transport and logistics, tourism and leisure, crafts and local products, the cultural industry and information and digital technologies.

All grant applications must be submitted online through the www. nordev.ma, during this first period of the launch of this project, going from October 3 to November 15.
Intended for projects with the simple condition of being developed in one of the eight provinces and prefectures of the region, “the subsidies can be requested by Moroccan citizens, foreigners residing in Morocco, MREs and foreign companies wishing to invest in the region,” said the same source.

Note that project leaders can receive support in their efforts at the regional headquarters and through the counters made available to them by the Fund’s partners, in coordination with the four professional chambers, in this case those of the commerce, industry and services; maritime fisheries; agriculture and crafts as well as other partners.
