MOSCOW (Archyde.com) – A dispute over the return of turbines for Nord Stream 1, the main pipeline that sends natural gas from Russia to Europe, showed no signs of resolution on Thursday. Russia claims the delay in returning the turbines is hampering gas supplies to Europe, and the Kremlin says documents were required to confirm that the turbines were not subject to sanctions.

Germany’s Siemens Energy said on Monday it had carried out maintenance on a turbine in Canada and was ready to return it immediately.

Russia’s state-owned Gazprom, meanwhile, reiterated that sanctions by Canada, the European Union and the United Kingdom are preventing it from returning turbines to Russia. The other three turbines are also in need of major maintenance, and Nord Stream 1 said only one of its six main turbines, excluding emergency reserves, is currently in operation.

That means less than 33 million cubic meters per day, regarding 20% of its capacity, according to Gazprom’s statement.

“Gazprom wants the turbines back, but it was not Gazprom that introduced the sanctions,” said Kremlin spokesman Peskov. is the property of the company,” he said.
