Noni Dounia gave an interview to the show “Mega Kalimera” and Nana Palaitsakis. The well-known model and presenter talked regarding her candidacy in the European elections, the “blessing of wrinkles”, self-improvement and negative criticism.

“I’m in creative menopause, luckily it’s not taboo. All women go through it. Menopause is a difficult time because you have great emotional changes. I carry a fan with me everywhere, it’s like a tool. I have friends who are going through menopause together and I don’t feel alone. I like that I’m growing up and maturing, I don’t feel like my youth is ending. It’s nice to get old and enjoy your life with your wrinkles, it’s a blessing.

A woman never ceases to be charming because she grows older and has wrinkles. It is not easy to get used to your new self-image, especially if you have made a profession that has to do with external beauty. If you are a female model, you are forever judged for your external beauty”, said Noni Dounia initially.

Noni Dounia said regarding mental health and self-improvement: “Mental health is a very serious matter. Self-improvement is a positive thing, as long as it is not self-centered. I go regularly for psychoanalysis even today, it’s a gift to myself. When I was a new mom, I had seen a child psychologist, I wanted to be the perfect mother. The psychologist told me that there is no such thing as a perfect mother.”

Noni Dounia then said: “My best friends are Rhea Tutuntzi, Kalli Tsilidou, Angela Evripidis, Evi Adam, Korina Stergiadou and Mania Delou. We share everything together. Rudeness is what saddens me most these days. In my environment there are people who may be wary of my decisions because they don’t want me to get hurt.”

Regarding politics, Noni Dounia noted: “After my term in the Parliament I thought every night if I have helped even one person in some way. When I was not elected for the parliamentary elections, I managed it with a lot of crying. I have also received harassment and psychological abuse in the past. I have been rejected too many times in my life and then other doors opened for me. If everything goes well and I find myself in the European Parliament, I want to deal with all social issues. I am very interested in the position of women in our country and the new generation. I have no problem with anyone’s criticism, I would work with everyone, even with Dimitris Papanotas.”
