Non-bailable arrest warrant issued for Ali Amin Gandapur

A local court in Islamabad has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Shah Mehmood Qureshi in a case filed on the Real Azadi March.

Judicial Magistrate Naveed Khan has issued a written order for the hearing of the case registered at Koral police station.

The ruling said that Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Faisal Javed Khan and Ali Nawaz Awan are acquitted on the basis of lack of evidence in the case registered in Koral police station on 26 May 2022.

In this regard, it was said that the court has already acquitted PTI founder Imran Khan from this case of Haqiji Azadi March.

The court further said in the order that non-bailable arrest warrants are issued for Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Ali Amin Gandapur for their continuous non-appearance despite the summons.

The court said that the case is fixed for hearing once more on May 20.

It should be noted that to stop Imran Khan’s ‘True Freedom March’ on May 25, 2022, the authorities imposed Section 144 under which no more than 4 people can gather and the purpose of this move was to prevent gatherings.

Authorities tried to block Imran Khan’s march by placing shipping containers on major highways to prevent him from entering Islamabad.

Despite the containers placed by the authorities, the participants of the march fearlessly crossed all the barriers and entered Islamabad on which the police used lathi charge, tear gas and shelling to disperse them.

Meanwhile, in the footage broadcast on television, smoke was seen rising from the ground and fire was seen in the green belts adjacent to the main highways of Islamabad.

The government claimed that the fire was started by Tehreek-e-Insaaf supporters while the PTI claimed that the fire was caused by police shelling, but neither might be independently verified.
