A Nokia signed a new contract of license patent crusade with Apple. The announcement was made by the company itself this Friday (30) and, in practice, the text will replace the one currently in force, which expires at the end of this year. However, details of the terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Even so, the Finnish brand stated that it expects to obtain revenue related to the new contract from the month of January 2024. In addition, it suggested that this new license involves essential inventions with the use of 5G technologies and the development of other resources. In a note, Jenni Lukander, president of the company, commented:

We are delighted to have concluded an amicable long-term patent license agreement with Apple. Deal reflects the strength of Nokia’s patent portfolio, decade-long R&D investments [pesquisa e desenvolvimento] and contribution to cellular standards and other technologies

It is worth remembering that this was not the only company with which Nokia signed an agreement on patents. For example, in December last year, it even renewed the agreement with Huawei, which continued investment in R&D despite sanctions applied by the United States.

Another company with which it signed a contract was Samsung, in January of this year. In this sense, the objective was to enable the use of 5G patents and other technologies. Despite the intentions to generate results in the long term, again no details were presented about what was negotiated in the agreement.
