Godolphin’s “Noble Style” topped the list of 16 elite first-class horses in the 1400-meter Greenham Stakes at Newbury Racecourse this month, which is one of the qualifying races for the English 2000 Guineas Classic for the first category.
It is worth noting that Noble Style was undefeated in three races when he was a two-year-old, most notably his victory in the Gimcrack race at York Racecourse.
It will be the first time the Kingman’s son has raced over a distance of more than six furlongs (1,200 metres), but trainer Charlie Appleby hopes the distance will give him plenty of clues ahead of a potential 2,000 Guineas race on May 6.
Appleby of Moulton Paddock said: “We are going into the race quite open in terms of distance, this is the first time he has gone over 1200m, he has shown a lot of natural pace and going to 1600m in the Guineas might be a question mark.
He continued, “It will be his first participation in the distance of 1400 meters, and then we will decide whether his goal will be the English or French jeans, or perhaps we will bring him back to the shorter distance in the Commonwealth race at the British Royal Ascot Festival.”
