“No water, no food, no information”: exasperated Quebecers stuck in the South

The hundreds of Canadian and Quebec travelers stranded in the South are trying to obtain information from their carrier, Sunwing, without result.

Since Tuesday, 300 have been waiting in the Dominican Republic to return to Quebec, but in vain. They managed to board a plane, but they got out soon following.

According to Stéphane Paradis, a Quebecer caught in Punta Cana, the pilot responsible for the flight the day before failed a cognitive test.

“He failed it [en raison] fatigue, the length of the journey. We also heard that customs in Quebec closed at 3 a.m. so we didn’t have time to get there,” explains Mr. Paradis.

“There is nothing substantiated. We have a lot, a lot, a lot of trouble getting information, it’s practically impossible, ”laments the man.

He and other travellers, including children and older people, had to sleep on the floor waiting for a response.

“When you see four or five year old children sleeping on ceramics, 70 year old gentlemen, it’s quite ordinary. No water, no food, no information,” laments Mr. Paradis.

At this time, Sunwing has declined any interview requests from TVA Nouvelles. A written statement is expected to be released in the followingnoon.
