no risk taken in Brooklyn

After two white seasons, TJ Warren hoped to start the 2022-23 season at the same time as everyone else. Unfortunately, his subscription to the infirmary was not terminated in time and the Nets will have to do without him until at least November.

Since the release of the bubble in Orlando, the seasons have followed and resembled each other for TJ Warren. Victim (among other things) of a fracture in the left foot, he has not been able to play a single match since December 29, 2020. He was then playing in Indiana and benefited from a good hype following having surpassed himself in the second part of the season in the bubble. Broke in full swing, Warren therefore hoped to revive on the side of the Nets where he signed for the veteran minimum. But we will still have to be patient before seeing the former Pacer once more.

“TJ will be re-evaluated in November. He’s fine, he’s recovering. We knew regarding it when we signed it. […] We don’t want to take any risks with him. He was on the sidelines for two years, it’s a process that you want to have confidence in to make a good decision as an organization not to rush things. »

We hope that the light is at the end of this long tunnel of a year and ten months already. Despite everything, the Brooklyn front office still recruited him into its ranks, proof that there is still a team that believes in his redemption. We hope so in any case, he is a very talented player who has achieved three seasons with more than 18 points on average from Phoenix to Indiana, and who has just turned 29 years old. In the meantime, the Nets obviously have what it takes on paper to make up for his absence. The megastars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving should hold the house as they should and behind there are guys like Patty Mills, Seth Curry, Cam Thomas and others who will be there to relieve them (a little) in scoring…

Decidedly, the return of TJ Warren is long overdue, at least until November. The Nets not wanting to take any risks, they will have to deal without the Michael Jordan of the Orlando bubble in 2020 during the first weeks of the season.
