Al-Marsad newspaper: Sources revealed the features of the new “Personal Status Law” project, which granted the wife the right to annul the marriage contract unilaterally in 10 cases, not to bargain over the custody of children, and not to accept claims of denial of lineage following it had been proven.

The sources said – according to “Okaz” – that “the system stipulates that everything that the fiancée or fiancée presents to the other party during the engagement period is considered a gift, unless the suitor declares that what he gave is a dowry, and if the fiancé or fiancée changes the engagement, he may return the gift.” .

Prohibition of notarizing the marriage contract unless the spouses have completed 18 years

She pointed out that “the draft system prohibits documenting the marriage contract unless the spouses have completed 18 years, and the court may authorize the marriage of a male or female who has not completed 18 years of age if he is an adult following verifying his interest in the marriage, and it is stipulated in the contract that the two spouses are expressly compatible and married in one council.

No prejudice to the wife’s salary

The sources added: “There is no prejudice to the wife’s salary, and the ongoing alimony for the wife, children and parents is an excellent debt that is presented over all other debts, and the wife’s alimony lawsuit is not heard for a previous period of more than two years, and the husband must document the divorce within a maximum period of 15 days from the time of Baynunah.”

The sources concluded, by saying: “The new “Personal Status Law” draft stipulates that if the child under custody has completed 15 years of age, he may choose to reside with one of his parents unless the interests of the child in custody require otherwise, and custody ends if the child in custody has completed the age of 18.
