Thiruvananthapuram: The government has issued an order with updated instructions for killing wild boar. The order states that the killing of wild boar must ensure that no human life, property, livestock or other wildlife is harmed.

Local body presidents and secretaries can authorize the slaughter of pigs. Do not kill pigs by poisoning or shock. Authorities must ensure that the carcass of a slaughtered wild boar is buried scientifically.

Details of wild boar slaughtered and cremated carcasses should be kept in the register prepared by the respective local body. The order also said that the services of Janajagratha Samiti could be used by local bodies and panchayat raj institutions to kill wild boars and bury their bodies.
