Christian Stocker, General Secretary of the ÖVP, firmly reiterates that the rules for obtaining citizenship should remain unchanged.
Vienna (OTS) – In a press conference on Monday, the General Secretary of the Austrian People’s Party (ÖVP), Christian Stocker, firmly reiterated that the rules for obtaining citizenship should remain unchanged and not be weakened.
Stocker also emphasized that people who reject our way of life and culture have no place in our society. This clear stance of the People’s Party is essential to strengthen integration and social cohesion in Austria.
The reaction of the Vienna SPÖ local councilor Omar Al-Rawi to this clear statement is unfortunately incomprehensible. In a recent statement, Al-Rawi questioned the fate of those born here, revealing a questionable perspective.
LAbg. Hannes Taborsky, regional chairman of the ÖAAB Vienna, commented on this issue: “If the SPÖ is of the opinion that people who were born here have difficulties adhering to our legal system and culture, the question arises as to what SPÖ has done wrong in this city in recent years. Unfortunately, it confirms that the Vienna city government has failed in recent years and has not done its homework.”
A strong and stable society is based on respect for our values and consistent compliance with our laws.
“This applies to all people who are in Austria, regardless of whether they were born here or not. If local councilor Al-Rawi discovers problems here, he is called upon to take a decisive stand once morest them,” concluded Taborsky.
