No need to go to the SAAQ to renew your health insurance card

It is no longer necessary to go to the offices of the SAAQ to renew the health insurance card, announced Thursday the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ).

Quebecers are invited to renew their health insurance card by filling out a form that they will have received by mail. There is no need to attach a photograph, the RAMQ will use the one already in the file.

This is a temporary measure aimed at preventing citizens from going to an SAAQ service point.

For several weeks, the offices of the Crown corporation have been overflowing due to the difficult transition of services to the SAAQclic digital platform.

People whose health insurance card has been expired for more than 6 months must call the RAMQ to obtain a new one. If it has been less than 6 months since the card expired, simply use the renewal notice received by mail.

If this notice has been lost, it can be ordered online on the RAMQ website.
