White House physician Kevin O’Connor said that tests conducted on a biopsy taken from US President Joe Biden in February confirmed that a skin tumor removed from his chest was a basal cell carcinoma.
He added that all cancerous tissues were successfully removed.
The White House doctor stated that the US President will remain under medical observation for dermatological diseases as part of his ongoing health care, although the biopsy site has recovered and there is no need for further treatment.
Last month, doctors declared Biden, 80, in good health and “fit for work” following a physical examination.
“Basal cell carcinoma does not tend to spread or metastasize,” O’Connor said in a letter released by the White House.
He added that, the biopsy site recovered well.
“There is no need for further treatment,” he said.
