no more fixed Internet in several cities in France

Bouygues Telecom customers no longer have access to the fixed Internet network in several places in France due to a major outage. The operator’s mobile network does not seem to be affected as much.

A breakdown is currently affecting several Bouygues Telecom customers. Worries affect the fixed Internet network of the ISP (fiber and ADSL). Several people are complaining at the time of writing that their Bbox no longer works.

Reports are rising sharply on the site DownDetector. The curve displayed by the platform listing this type of breakdown shows that there are already more than 2200 people indicating that they are having problems. Normally, there are only a very small dozen.

Also on Twitterthe number of Internet users sharing their misadventures is rapidly increasing.

Reports come from cities like Paris, Marseille and Nice. Bouygues Telecom explains in a tweet that the concern mainly affects the south of Île-de-France.

[???? Info] You may be having difficulty using your Bbox services mainly in the south of Ile-de-France. We are doing everything we can to restore the situation as soon as possible. Some services have been gradually returning since 5 p.m. Thank you

A complete return to normal seems envisaged for the end of the day.

Fixed Internet down, but what regarding the mobile network?

In their complaints, users regularly mention a Wi-Fi cut, an error displayed by their internet box (Bbox). On the other hand, the mobile network of theoperator does not seem affected, or at least not as much. Members of the editorial staff of Frandroid and Bouygues Telecom customers no longer have fixed Internet access at home, but can still connect to the 4G network.

However, a few people have told us that they have also had problems with Bouygues Telecom’s mobile network. It’s quite plausible, but if there is a breakdown, it doesn’t seem as important as the one affecting Internet boxes.
