No more account sharing on Netflix… unless you pay

Password sharing on Netflix between multiple households will now be impossible, unless you pay the price.

Netflix made the announcement late in 2022, reports Forbes Magazine. While no date has yet been revealed, platform users can expect to see changes as early as March.

Those who want to use the same account while staying in different places will have to pay a small amount. Still according to Forbes, it would be a sum of regarding $3 per month.

Recall that a basic monthly subscription currently costs $9.99, while a standard subscription allowing viewing on two devices costs $16.48 per month.

Netflix will therefore rely on Wi-Fi, device identification and content trends to enforce its new anti-password sharing rule.

The Globe and Mail indicates that user verification will be required once every 31 days to authenticate the main Wifi.

Users who travel regularly will also have to authenticate according to the Wifi they use, indicates the media.
