In the money laundering indictment once morest manager and investor Siegfried Wolf, former CEO of Magna International, in the Eurofighter case, the Economic and Corruption Public Prosecutor’s Office (WKStA) is initially back to square one. After Wolf and a second defendant, a former Magna manager, objected, the Graz Higher Regional Court rejected the indictment for money laundering on Friday.
The Higher Regional Court saw formal deficiencies in the indictment regarding money laundering and further investigations by the WKStA were necessary. A case once morest the second accused due to false evidence was discontinued.
At the core of the WKStA’s allegations are assets amounting to around 6.8 million euros, the origin of which was concealed and which is said to have served as commission for Eurofighter counter-deals. Some of the money was exchanged for gold in order to conceal the whereregardings. According to the indictment, Wolf is said to have helped to conceal parts of the funds or to bring them from Austria to Switzerland or from there to Austria.
The decision of the Higher Regional Court is now being examined at the WKStA, the APA was told.
