Five asteroids, including one the size of a house and two the size of an airplane, pass Earth between September 6 and September 10, according to NASA’s Asteroid Watch dashboard. None of them pose a threat to our planet (A planet is a celestial body orbiting around the Sun or another star of …), but their proximity offers a unique opportunity to study these celestial objects.

The first to approach, named JA5, measures regarding 18 meters and passed at a distance of 5.11 million kilometers (The meter (symbol m, from the Greek metron, measure) is the basic unit of length of the System …) from Earth (Earth is the third planet in the Solar System in order of distance…) on September 6th. It was first discovered in 2021.
Two more asteroids will fly past Earth on September 8. The first, called QC5 and discovered this year, measures around 26 meters and will pass 4.08 million kilometers from Earth. The second, named GE and the size of a bus, with regarding 8 meters, and will pass 5.72 million kilometers from Earth. It was discovered in 2020.
QE8, a larger 52-meter asteroid, will pass regarding 1.52 million kilometers from Earth on September 10. It was discovered this year.
Finally, also on September 10, another airplane-sized asteroid dubbed QF6, will pass regarding 2.66 million kilometers from Earth. Discovered this year, it will measure approximately 21 meters.
It should be noted that all these asteroids were discovered recently, between 2020 and 2023, underlining the increasing efficiency of detection and tracking methods. According to NASA, an object (In general, the word object (from the Latin objectum, 1361) designates an entity defined in…) is considered “potentially dangerous” if it passes less than 7.4 million kilometers of the Earth and measures more than 150 meters. None of the asteroids expected this week are of this size.
